The design of four Eagles with their head pointing toward the center appeared in the last quarter of the 19th century and continued through the 1930's. This specific arrangement of four appliqued Eagles became known as the Union Quilt. The Eagle carried an olive branch in its mouth, and nothing its talons. It's simple, with fluffy tail feathers.

For the 12" Block Setting, the Background center block is 36" square with four Eagles and one Medallion. For the 6" Block Setting, the Background center block is 18 1/2" square with one Eagle and a Flower Spray.

Fabric Selection: Select three patriotic fabrics in dark red for Head and Talons, gold or stripe for shield, medium brown for Wings and Tail, and a green for Olive Branch.
